Can I mount things on the walls?

You may make standard wall fixings, such as for hanging a picture or mirror, as long as the result is neat and appropriate tools are used — small nails or picture hooks are often a clean and simple solution.

Heavier items, like a flat-screen TV or loose wall shelves, can also be mounted. However, please consider the wall material and its load-bearing capacity before proceeding. If you are unsure how to make the fixings properly, we recommend asking a professional who has experience in safe and correct installation.

Please also note that if any marks are left on the walls, it is the tenant’s responsibility to restore the walls to their original condition before moving out. In the case of more significant damage, this may mean patching the holes and repainting the entire wall. You can find instructions for doing this according to our standards here.

That said, small nails, hooks, or screws used to hang individual pictures — the kind that the next resident may find useful for their own decor — can be left in place after you move out.

It is not allowed to make any fixings to the bathroom or balcony walls, the apartment’s vertical utility shafts, or the suspended ceiling ducts or their front panels. Fixings are also not permitted on the ceiling or on built-in furniture.
